Fight for Sunanda because Sunanda fights for us

'I think Sunanda's a bit of a bastard, but tomorrow if someone abducted me he would be the only one who would make a ruckus about it. That much I know for sure, and because of that I'll support him' - (In our Inbox)

We may not agree with Sunanda's politics. We may not agree with Sunanda's journalism. We may not agree with Sunanda's personality. We may dislike Sunanda intensely for many many reasons.

But the one thing we know for sure as journalists is that if tomorrow some harm were to come us, Sunanda would stand up for our rights, and he would not rest till we are safe. Sunanda does not only fight for his friends. Sunanda does not fight only for those who agree with him. Sunanda does not fight only for those who would fight for him. Sunanda fights for ALL of us, regardless of what we think about him.

When we are against the wall, when our friends and colleagues desert us because they do not wish to risk the wrath of the powerful, only Sunanda will stand by us.

Support Sunanda now. Let him know we stand by him in his hour of need. Email him, call him.

  1. I've worked with Sunanda long time ago…he is a bit of an eccentric character. But I think to myself – aren't we all?? Yes, agree with most of the comments…Sunanda is a person who would stand for the rights of a person despite all the ups and downs he experiences with that person. The man is humane at the end of the day. Most importantly, he was always a dude of the journos as well as other colleagues (not the big shots - the rest) despite the fact that CPA is a place, which maintains class discrimination in style. I have personally experienced how Sunanda maintained his balanced behaviour in such an aristocratic set-up. The man should be saluted just for that matter if not for anything else. No – Sunanda is not a thief. He is eccentric – that's all.

The snake, oh yes! by all means a snake… his rape attempt was on a girl from Ratnapura who used to be a part of MIRJE human rights activities in mid 90s at the residence of a university lecturer. (Political Science – Uni of Colombo who is a hardcore member of a socio-political influential group). I think the Uni Lecturer regrets for not getting rid of this snake at that time.

We urge the FMM to get rid of this clown. Let CPA pamper him and nurture him. But now way – if FMM needs peoples' support, get rid of this snake. He is a killer of all the journos in this country and there shouldn’t be any mercy for what he did.
